The new generation of managers of agricultural businesses will need to set clear and specific goals for their business. To achieve these goals, they will need advanced financial management and marketing skills. They will also have to be able to access and use information continually. Good managers will adopt current technology and be able to manage both people and risk. Above all, successful managers will be required to have a thorough understanding of their business and the factors that impact on the performance and viability of that business at both a national and international level.

Marcus Oldham College offers premium courses in Farm Business Management.
Our Farm Business Management Program has been specifically designed for people aiming for professional management positions in all aspects of the rural industry. Each course recognises that a manager of an agricultural business should possess appropriate business management skills and be well trained in all aspects of management production. The structure of the course ensures students are no more than 12 months away from the workplace.
The first year of the program is spent at the College learning the principles of farm business management; this is followed by a year of industry experience on a property or rural business. The third year of study requires students to return to the College where they will learn to apply the analytical and the decision making skills required in managing a farm business. Students successfully completing this year have the option to graduate with an Advanced Diploma of Farm Business Management.
The Bachelor of Business (Farm Management) may be obtained by successfully completing a further six units. These studies can be taken on campus (6 months) or by external study.
Marcus Oldham College has been producing top level farm and farm business managers since 1962 and recognises that no amount of theoretical learning will substitute for practical experience.
